Sri Lanka Tour Packages from Qatar & Doha (2026 Guide)

Published by SW Ceylon Tours · Reviewed by the SW Ceylon Tours team ·

Sri Lanka is one of the most popular short-haul holiday destinations for travellers based in Qatar — 4.5 hours direct on Qatar Airways, no jet lag, and a completely different climate to the Gulf. Entry requirements depend on the passport you hold rather than on your Qatar residency, and we explain that below. We are a Sri Lankan operator with a Qatar contact line (0097430664813), so this guide is written specifically for travellers leaving from Doha.

Direct flights from Doha (DOH) to Colombo (CMB)

Qatar Airways operates 2–3 daily non-stop flights from Hamad International to Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo. Flight time is roughly 4h 45m. Return fares typically range QAR 1,400–2,400 in economy, lower in shoulder months (April–June, September–October).

SriLankan Airlines also operates the route in code-share — same airport, similar pricing. We recommend the late-night QR departure: you land in Colombo around dawn and have a full first day with our driver waiting at arrivals.

Visa & ETA: Qatari passport holders vs Qatar residents

Sri Lanka's entry rules follow the nationality of your passport, not your Qatar residency or QID. So there is no single ETA rule or price that covers everyone flying out of Doha.

Qatari passport holders: Qatar is one of the 40 countries listed by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration for a tourist visa (ETA) free of charge for 30 days with effect from 25 May 2026, subject to the official conditions. An ETA is still applied for in advance — the fee is simply waived.

Expatriates living in Qatar: your eligibility, the duration granted and any fee depend on the passport you hold. Some nationalities are on the same 40-country list; others apply under the standard fee-paying arrangements. Check your own nationality on eta.gov.lk before booking.

Apply only on the official ETA service (eta.gov.lk); look-alike sites add their own service charge. Important: Sri Lankan visa and ETA requirements, eligibility and fees may change. Travelers should always verify the latest requirements with the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration & Emigration (immigration.gov.lk) or the official ETA service before traveling. Best months to fly from Qatar

December to March is peak (perfect weather on the south + west coasts and cultural triangle, but book 6–8 weeks ahead from Doha).

April Eid holidays: hot and humid, but doable — focus on hill country (Ella, Nuwara Eliya).

July–August (Qatar summer break): east coast is glorious (Trincomalee, Pasikuda) — flip the itinerary east instead of south.
